Online Pregnancy and Postpartum Coaching for New Moms

Tender Care for a Tender Time

Grounded, relational support for pregnancy and postpartum, because no parent is meant to navigate this transition alone.

Why Rooted Postpartum Coaching?

Two elephants in a forest, touching trunks, on a dirt path surrounded by trees.

My coaching philosophy is based on allomothering, the way elephants parent their calves.

In elephant herds, no mother is ever meant to do it alone.

When an elephant gives birth, the herd gathers. Other females stand watch, guide her to water, protect her while she labors, and help care for the calf afterward. Knowledge is shared across generations: how to birth, how to rest, how to keep going when the body is tired, and the world feels overwhelming. The survival of the mother and baby depends not on her strength alone, but on the presence of steady, attuned support.

Rooted Postpartum is a pregnancy and postpartum coaching service inspired by elephant herds and is built on that same truth.

Here, we believe your body already holds deep wisdom, but that wisdom flourishes in safety and connection. This work centers on slowing down, listening to your nervous system, and surrounding you with guidance that is calm, grounded, and responsive. Just like in a herd, support isn’t loud or invasive. It’s consistent, protective, and deeply respectful of your timing.

About Your Coach

Credentials and Experience

My name is Allison, and I am a Postpartum Doula and Coach, serving Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. As a Peripartum Mental Health (PMH-C) therapist, Early Childhood Educator, certified coach, and doula, I can help you and your partner prepare for the arrival of a new baby.

My experience and training position me perfectly to assist you with concerns related to pregnancy and parenting:

  • My Rooted Postpartum program will support you through your pregnancy and in the postpartum period.

  • I can be a valuable resource when you prepare to become a parent.

  • I can help you through the challenges and joys of pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting.

  • Pregnancy is full of emotional and physical changes! Together, we will work to manage them.

  • I can help you plan the best “4th” trimester for your family.

  • My early childhood teaching experience helps me support your family through its developmental stages.

  • In addition to my doula and coaching practice, I have experience as a hospital social worker in a mother-baby unit. This job allowed me to help families get the very best postpartum support.

Rooted Postpartum Areas of Focus

Pregnancy

Rooted Pregnancy coaching supports you through the emotional, mental, and relational shifts that begin long before birth. This work focuses on helping you feel grounded in your body, connected to your intuition, and supported as your identity starts to change. We explore nervous system regulation, emotional processing, fears or expectations around birth and parenting, communication and boundary-setting, and how to prepare for postpartum in ways that are realistic, not idealized. Rather than telling you how pregnancy should feel, coaching helps you make sense of how it does feel, so you can move through this season with more steadiness, trust, and self-compassion.

Postpartum

Rooted Postpartum coaching centers on care for the mother during one of the most tender and demanding transitions of her life. This work supports emotional integration after birth, nervous system repair, identity shifts, relationship changes, and the often-unspoken grief, rage, joy, or disorientation that can surface. Coaching provides a steady place to process your experience, rebuild a sense of safety in your body, and navigate practical and emotional needs without pressure to “bounce back.” The focus is not on fixing you, but on supporting you as you recover, recalibrate, and find your footing in this new chapter—held, supported, and not alone.

Who I Support

This work is for birthing people and their partners who want more than advice. You want to be held, understood, and guided through one of the most intense seasons of life. You might be feeling anxious about labor, disconnected from your changing body, unsure how to navigate relationships after birth, or overwhelmed by the emotional ups and downs of postpartum. You might be a first-time parent or have multiple children, but the common thread is that you want support that is practical, relational, and nurturing, not prescriptive or judgmental.

What you can expect…

When you work with me, you’ll find a space where you can slow down and be seen.

You can expect:

  • Emotional and relational support: a calm, grounded guide to help you process shifts in identity, relationships, and expectations.

  • Practical tools for navigating pregnancy and postpartum: from preparing for birth to rebuilding routines and rhythms after birth.

  • Nervous system regulation guidance: learn ways to feel safe in your body, release tension, and reconnect to your intuition.

  • A non-judgmental space: where you are not expected to “perform” or figure it all out alone.

You leave each session with clarity, reassurance, and a sense of being supported, so you can navigate this season with more confidence and less overwhelm.

What Happens in a Rooted Postpartum Coaching Session?

Every family is different, so no two sessions look exactly the same. We start wherever you are today.

Some sessions are filled with laughter. Some include tears. Some are spent untangling a problem that has felt impossible all week. All of them are a place where you can exhale.

During our time together, you'll find:

A warm, judgment-free space

You don't have to pretend everything is fine. You can bring your worries, your frustrations, your wins, your questions, and your messy reality. You will be met with compassion, not criticism.

Honest support

I won't tell you there is only one "right" way to parent. Together we'll sort through the noise, look at what fits your family's values, and make decisions that feel realistic and sustainable.

Practical solutions

Sometimes you don't need another inspirational quote. You need a plan.

We'll work through the everyday challenges that can make early parenthood feel overwhelming, including routines, feeding questions, preparing for visitors, dividing responsibilities with your partner, returning to work, or simply figuring out what comes next.

Baby sleep support

We'll talk about what is developmentally normal, why your baby's sleep may look the way it does, and practical ways to support rest for both you and your baby. My goal is to help you understand your baby while finding solutions that work for your family.

Baby gear guidance

Feeling overwhelmed by endless products and opinions? We can talk through bottles, carriers, bassinets, pumps, swaddles, monitors, strollers, and all the other gear that suddenly seems so important. We'll focus on what is actually helpful for your lifestyle instead of what social media says you "need."

Emotional support for the transition to parenthood

Becoming a parent changes more than your schedule. It changes your identity, your relationships, and often your confidence.

We'll make space for the emotional side of this transition, including overwhelm, anxiety, guilt, changing friendships, relationship stress, and the adjustment to life with a new baby.

Evidence-informed education

You'll receive information grounded in current recommendations and child development, explained in a way that makes sense without adding more overwhelm.

A plan you can actually use

Before you leave, we'll identify realistic next steps so you feel more confident walking into the week ahead. Small changes often create the biggest difference.

My role is not to tell you how to parent.

My role is to walk alongside you, help you make informed decisions, and remind you that you don't have to figure this out alone.
